Branding, plans, and resellers
These settings are in the Hosting console. Sign in as the hosting-company owner and choose Console from the account menu.
Branding
Open Console → Branding. Only the hosting-company owner can change the brand. Resellers and their customers inherit it.
- Name appears throughout the product. With no name, the product calls itself Files.
- Line under it is an optional sentence on the sign-in screen.
- Accent colour changes the interface accent while the rest of the colour system stays fixed.
- Support address is where customers go for help.
- Support email is used in messages and as the help link when no support address is set.
- Logo appears beside the name on the desktop, sign-in screen, and shared links.
- App icon is used in the browser tab.
- Desktop wallpaper is the background for the hosting company, resellers, and customers.
The name and brand appear on the desktop, sign-in screen, shared links, and messages sent by the server. The logo may be PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF, up to 256 KB. The app icon may be PNG, ICO, JPEG or WebP, up to 64 KB. The wallpaper may be PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF or ICO, up to 25 MB. SVG is refused.
Plans
Open Console → Plans. A plan can limit:
- storage;
- transfer in the rolling 30-day window;
- whether public files are included;
- whether share links are included;
- how long items remain in the Trash; and
- how long earlier file versions are kept.
Every capacity must have a value or be marked No limit. Public files and share links are included unless switched off. Trash and version retention can use the server default, a number of days, or no time limit.
To change a customer's plan, open Console → Accounts, choose the account, and use the plan selector. The new limits apply at once. Changing a plan does not touch any file. You can also set a storage or transfer limit for one account in the same account sheet; JDrive requires a reason and records it.
Stopping the sale of a plan leaves existing customers on it.
Resellers
Open Console → Accounts and choose New reseller. A reseller can:
- create and manage their direct customer accounts;
- create their own plans within their allowance;
- assign plans and account-specific limits to their direct customers;
- issue billing and portal sign-in keys for their own scope;
- choose a stricter support-access policy for their customers; and
- see an overview of their own part of the server.
A reseller cannot change the server's brand, licence, transfer-enforcement policy, or archives. They cannot create another reseller. Their account list contains only the people they sell to directly. Their customers continue working if the reseller account is suspended.
The account ladder is hosting company → reseller → customer. A hosting company may sell directly to customers as well. Plans and limits cannot grant a reseller or customer more than the seller holds.
Move accounts
Open a customer under Console → Accounts and use Who provides for them to hand the customer to one of your resellers. Open a reseller and use Who they sell to to take one of their customers back or move that customer to another reseller.
Only a party above the current relationship can push an account to a seller it also controls. A reseller cannot pull another seller's customer. Moving an account changes who manages its limits, support, and bill. No file is copied or moved. The old plan ends because it belonged to the old seller, and the customer is sent an email about the change.
A reseller with customers cannot be terminated until those customers have been moved or terminated.
Transfer limits
Transfer is the response data sent by the server. It includes a customer's own downloads, public-file downloads, and files opened through share links. It does not include moving a file inside JDrive. The usage is charged to the account that owns the file.
Open Console → Transfer to see customer transfer, the server's own interface traffic, and the combined total for the last 30 days. The meter always runs. Enforcement is off until the hosting company enables it.
When enforcement is on and an account reaches its allowance, its public addresses and share links stop serving until the rolling window moves on or the period is reset. The customer keeps access to their own files. JDrive emails a warning at 80% of the allowance whether enforcement is on or off.
